BIRMINGHAM CAMPAIGN
Birmingham is the biggest city of the state of Alabama, with the title of “the center of Civil Rights Movement” back in the segregation era. Birmingham was one of the most racially divided cities in the United States, where black people during that age were facing difficulties to get such an equal right as white people did.
In early 1963,
a campaign was hold by Martin Luther King Jr and the organization of Southern
Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). The campaign was a powerful hit
which made the government compromise, and eventually draws more attention from
the world to Southern United States’ segregation situation.
